Tales of Rar's Fandoms; Tri-Ace

Yes, I know. *gasp* It's midnight and I'm not playing Vesperia! In fact... I haven't played since... like 4 PM! Okay, I know... That's STILL not very impressive... But hey, I got a new game~ Which I still haven't even put into the system... But, I'll probably play it eventually. Or hopefully...

Anywho, that game is Infinite Undiscovery developed by Tri-Ace and published by Squeenix. Anywho, as very few people know... Or if I'm wrong and a lot do... Tri-Ace was originally the Tales of Phantasia team that started what we today know as the Tales series! The top Tri-Ace developers and writers did help out with Tales of Phantasia, but a lot of their stuff got changed by Namco, so they got mad and left after Phantasia was published and made a contract with Squaresoft. Thus they created their company, as well as the Star Ocean series that many people know and love today. Myself not included yet. Apparently, the original Star Ocean had many similar gameplay mechanics and stuff to Tales of Phantasia... Which is why I kind of think it's worth checking their games out.

Most people know their games, and they are pretty popular from what I've seen. Their most prominent series is Star Ocean, which most of you probably have heard of... Technically, Star Ocean is the sister series to Tales. Although it seems to be more Sci-Fi based than Fantasy. I only own one of the titles though, and that is the third one. Star Ocean: Til the End of Time. Thankfully, the English version didn't come out until the Japanese version got fixed... Apparently the original Star Ocean 3 was dreadful somehow... Though I'll never be certain! But yeah, we got the Director's Cut... Which included additional features that were added in from the original Star Ocean 3.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the heart to play it too much yet... Only thirty minutes in so far. I'll get to it eventually though! Mark my words! I will beat every RPG I currently have! No exceptions! Unfortunately I'm really slow though... So that probably will take a while, considering how slow I was with Vesperia. Okay, I wasn't really slow, as I beat it in a little more than a week, and it usually takes me much longer to do that. Considering that Vesperia was considered to be around 40-60 hours long without sidequests... Me taking an extra 40+ hours to beat it with sidequests means that I AM slow. XD

Anywho! Back to Infinite Undiscovery... I heard different things about it in different boards. The one thing I heard that stuck to my mind was... "If you played Tales of Vesperia first, Infinite Undiscovery will feel very weak because Tales of Vesperia beats it in almost every aspect." Okay, that wasn't really a quote from anywhere, but it's pretty much summing up one of those topics made on GameFAQs... Of course, after seeing that, I got it anyway, because I know that I can't judge anything unless I play it myself. I learned that through Ar tonelico...

One of my secrets is that at first, I wasn't a very big fan of it... I played through the intro of it, and thought it wasn't as good as the Atelier Iris series. Of course, I only played through like... the first 30 minutes. Mind you this was like 2 years ago, so I don't think I was thinking quite like I do now. I grew a lot in the past year because of my first year in college...

But anywho, yeah I judged Ar tonelico at first because it just seemed like it wasn't my style of game... At first, it just felt VERY Sci-Fiey, yes I just made that word up. Of course, the beginning definitely WOULD feel like a Sci-Fi game, I mean Shurelia-sama looked like an android (and she technically really IS one, considering Reyvateils are artificial beings, although Reyvateils are a lot closer to humans than robots)... The Tower was VERY mechanical, and Lyner ended up flying a spaceship to the bottom of the tower... So yeah, very Sci-Fi so far. Also, viruses = more Sci-Fi. Anywho, since I was probably distracted by some other game, I stopped playing from after Lyner landed next to that village in the forest, both names which escape me... (feels ashamed to call himself an Ar tonelico fan now.) And I didn't touch the game until the fall of 2007. Yes, last year. Surprisingly, I wasn't such a big fan of Ar tonelico a year ago... If someone had mentioned the name "Chroche" to me last year, I would have no idea what they were saying. Of course, I did start playing it slightly before the release of Ar tonelico II in Japan... I know I beat Ar tonelico the first time in December of 2007 for sure. So yeah, my fandom for Ar tonelico steadily and rapidly grew as I played it. And here I am, today, a huge Ar tonelico fan, with my favorite character EVER being Chroche Latel Pastalie of Ar tonelico II: Sekai ni Hikibu Shoujo-tachi no Metafalica fame. XD Wow, things sure can change fast...

...

Like this post... Gah! I am RAMBLING! Goddess Martel, I keep getting off topic of what I was originally meant to post! Anywho, Infinite Undiscovery. I got it. The most interesting thing I noticed about it first... Was the heroine's name. Aya. Yes, that's right, her name is Aya. I INSTANTLY thought of my Tales-fanatic friend AyameMajikku. It doesn't really help that she's an archer either, because Aya-chin LOVES Chester. Who is, obviously from Tales of Phantasia and is the Archer of the group... Anywho, I found this hilarious and felt that I needed to tell her right away... Which I did. Just because of the heroine being an archer named Aya made me want to play Infinite Undiscovery a bit more. XD

Hopefully I can enjoy Infinite Undiscovery despite my great love and bias towards the Tales series now. I was looking quite forward to it, despite it coming out a week after the amazingly awesome Tales of Vesperia. I thought it was very pretty the first time I've heard of it! I didn't even know it would come out so close to Vesperia's release... Considering I was already a huge Tales fan, and that my fandom for Tales and Gust RPGs have greatly overshadowed that of Squeenix's RPGs (although I shouldn't group Final Fantasy and Tri-Ace's games together, because they are developed by different teams) Infinite Undiscovery coming out AFTER Vesperia, really hurt it's chances of me playing it sooner. I'll play it eventually though, I know it. Possibly sometime this week! I still have just about two weeks before school starts after all! XD

I honestly don't know how I got into so many different fandoms... I know I said Chroche-sama is my favorite character of all time. But Nefertari Vivi from One Piece isn't forgotten yet! I'm still a uber fan of her despite my current... lack of Viviness anywhere. Or One Pieceness for that matter. o.o

Oh yeah, and I made a new banner for Connie-sama! I made her an Avatar too, she seems to like them. Check them out at her blog okay? XD

Anywho, I think that's enough rambling for now, because I've gone on wayyy too long enough, considering I was supposed to be mostly talking about Infinute Undiscovery rather than my fandom for everything... /swt
